Continued activities of the Žejančići

After the summer holidays, the Children’s language playgroup “Žejančići” continued with learning of the Zheyanski language in the beginning of September. Greater attention was given to stories written in the Vlashki and Zheyanski language (such as Šćorica de lisica ši de lupu, Rojšebaretica), and this through reading, storytelling, drawing and creating worksheets. Fall themes were worked on, songs the children had learned were sung, the feast day of Jandrinja was celebrated through the story of St. Andrew, the patron saint of Žejane, by drawing pictures of the church and similar activities. Adrijana Gabriš wrote a poem about the Žejančići that the children happily embraced and learned to recite.
In the magazine of the Primorsko-Goranska County, Zeleno i plavo (Green and blue) (No. 42), an article about the Žejančići entitled “Bitka za spas žejanskog jezika” (Battle to save the Zheyanski language) was published, so once again the playgroup participants had an opportunity to present themselves and their work.
In the pre-Christmas period the children made Christmas cards, sang Christmas songs, played instruments and recited poems, and in this way prepared for the final event – the Christmas concert.
