Day of the Vlach language 2016

On Saturday, August 6, 2016 in Šušnjevica, in front of the church, the now already traditional event Zija de vlåška limba (Day of the Vlashki language), dedicated to the Vlashki language, was held. The organisers of the event are the Association “Spod Učke” and the Association “Tragovi”, partners on  the project Preservation of the Vlashki and Zheyanski Language, headed by its author Dr. Zvjezdana Vrzić. The program included the children’s play Nono ši nåpu (Grandfather and the beet), prepared by Viviana Brkarić from the Association “Spod Učke” and performed by the members of the children’s language playgroup “Puljići”. After the play, Dr. Vrzić presented the first picture book in the Vlashki language, Šćorica de lisica ši de lupu  (Story about the fox and the wolf). The picture book is based on a traditional story recorded in the Vlashki language in the scope of the language documentation project and it was conceived and authored by dr. Vrzić. The event Zija de vlåška limba was financed by the Primorsko-Goranska County, Istrian County and the municipalities of Matulji and Kršan.
