Zilele de vlåška ši žejånska limba 2010 – The Days of the Vlaški and Žejanski Language 2010

“Zilele de vlåška ši žejånska limba 2010“ – “The Days of the Vlaški and Žejanski Language 2010“ took place for the second year on July 31st and August 1st, 2010. The program of this two-day event consisted of workshops and a talk for the community members. The activities started on July 31st in Šušnjevica and continued the next day in Žejân/Žejane.
Boris Rakamarić held a workshop on the basics of audio and video recording for the purpose of language documentation. Dr. Zvjezdana Vrzić led a workshop on writing Vlaški and Žejanski (also, Istro-Romanian) for native speakers. Viviana Brkarić led a theatre workshop for children, so the first day of the event ended with a premiere of a children's play in Vlaški, “Juva popâru kręšte“ (Where Pepper Grows) (see enclosed video clip). The same program was repeated in Žejân/Žejane on the next day, with the addition of the talk “From the past of Žejanan families“, given by Robert Doričić.
At the end of “The Days of the Vlaški and Žejanski Language 2010“, a folklore dance and song festival took place, “Zakantajmo i zatancajmo va Žejanah“ [Let's sing and dance in Žejân/Žejane], organized by the Folklore Societies “Žejanski zvončari“ (The Žejanan Bellringers) from Žejân/Žejane and“Učka“ from Matulji.
